Parsons

$295.00

Johnnie Parsons won the season championship in 1949 and finished second in his first Indy 500. He won the Indy 500 in 1950. He drove the Wynn's Friction Proofing Kurtis/Offy to a speed of 124.022 and won $57,459 for his first place finish.

His name is the only misspelled on the Brog-Warner trophy. The silversmith carved "Johnny" instead of "Johnnie- his son’s name." In 1991, during a trophy restoration project, it was proposed to correct the spelling. Ultimately it was not changed and remains part of the trophy's lore.
