This image is part of a series calling attention to how the digital world, represented by the digital cockroach, transforms early technology—in this case, the typewriter, which has been replaced by desktop computers and laptops.
BTW—there was no Escape key on typewriters, and there is no escaping the evolution of technology, hence the title of this piece.
